Deftac Cebu shines in Pan-Asia jujitsu event

CEBU, Philippines - Team Deftac-Cebu emerged as one of the winningest squads in the 2010 Pan-Asia Gi and No-Gi International Competition recently at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.Deftac-Cebu nabbed the overall championship in the Gi day and placed second in the no-Gi day in the biggest competition it participated in, so far.

Deftac-Cebu also grabbed individual honors in this Brazilian Jujitsu tilt with nine golds, 10 silvers and 14 bronzes that made them an envy not only to other local teams but also to foreign competitors coming from Australia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Guam, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Borneo among others.

Cebuano white belters produced the most number of gold medals through the efforts of Gerb Inajada, Jiggy Canizares, Keeno Jingco, and Vaughn Donayre.

Robert Mellana and Ram Ananda also seized a gold each under the blue belt division.

Ren Anthony Lao had a golden finish in the juniors category and Carl Rizon in the kids class. – THE FREEMAN
