CEBU, Philippines - Simon Losiaboi made sure he can grab all opportunities left while still in Cebu as he won the 1st Run For Q – The First Call Center Run at the Ayala Center-Cebu’s Terraces yesterday.
Losiaboi, who told The Freeman earlier that he is already going back to Kenya late June, won the men’s 16-k division over arch-rival Mendel Lopez with his time of 53 minutes and 36.46 seconds as against Lopez’s 55:00:20.
Adonis Singson got the third spot with 55:19:73 while Philip Duenas was fourth with 57:47.50 and Sherwin Managuil at fifth place with one hour, one minute and 42.51 clocking.
The rest of the top 10 are Wilfredo Librinca (1:02:31.48), Roger Slado (1:06:43.87), Renzie Gabuya (1:07:31.57), Raymart Montecalvo (1:08:15.81), and Ralph Arche with 1:08:54.51.
In the distaff side, Mary Grace de los Santos crossed the finish line first again with a time of 1:01:42.13.
The fast-rising Mary Joy Tabal was second with 1:11:37.28 while Lhoriz Echavez got an advance birthday gift for herself after landing third with a time of
1:20:37.28.
Rounding up the fourth to 10th spots in the women’s 16-k were Melinda Ponce (1:25:54.23), Mary Ann Benedicto (1:29:39:39), Rachel Limtong (1:38:15.87), Ritchelle Valdez (1:39:40:44), Marina Lipardo (1:40:14.28) and Carmel Suico (1:42:33:51) and Maria Glen Pontanar (1:42:05.21).
In the 10-k action, Riez Enriquez topped the battle with 33:28.78 with Elmer Bartolo trailing him with 33:29.11 and Ian Bernido at third spot with 34:18.32.
In the women’s side, it was Merlyn Alin who grabbed the top spot with 44:12.76 and Meresis Ramirez at second with 45:13.60 and Gerly Rose Baylon on third spot with 45:35.33.
In the media category, it was Bayani Alvarez who claimed the top spot with 41:19.05 as Jurlito Montecillo settles second with 47:50.45 and Gabby Lariosa at third spot with 48:01.01.
Call center agents and other BPO employees also had a time of their lives after testing their might against each other with Paul James Zafico on top with 18:29.81 for a 5-k run.
Arthur Saveron was second with 22:04:37 while Kristiane Lim was third with 23:22.93.
The fourth to 10th in the call center’s class include Jeffrey Oliva (23:28.22), Linno Carlo Galindo (23:32.85), Roy Sison (25:39.86), Mitchelle Jala (25:50.04), Osias Manlucob (27:43.23), Edd Ryan Dayuha (27:47.42) and Tricia Marie Dingcong with 28:51.53.
In the 3-k action, Jerry Laruya came out the fastest in the men’s division with nine minutes and 44.89 seconds while Romylin Ignacio topped the women’s class with 15:27.34.
Meanwhile, Madelyn Carter, Mary Grace Delos Santos’ rival in most local road running events here also had some good news to share after surviving the Nature Valley Run in Manila also yesterday.
Carter came out third to Aileen Tolentino in the half marathon, something she said was unexpected as she had lesser time to prepare for the event and she was dealing a tough opposition. – THE FREEMAN
