CEBU, Philippines - After the fourth try, Jon Eleazar “Jon-Jon” Adlawan finally got the coveted ‘Rider of the Year’ award after emerging not only as the most dominant expert rider during the 4th MS Motosuit Motocross Series, but also for his attitude towards every race and his dealings with fellow riders and supporters.
Adlawan, an incoming third year Civil Engineering student of the University of San Carlos, is very elated with the award as for him it meant he did his very best.
“I thank God for this opportunity and to my family, friends from PSR (PowerSoprts Racing where he belongs) and everyone who supported me.This is a very big accomplishment for me.You need to be the best to be the Rider of the Year so this is really a memorable moment for me,” says the 19 year-old Adlawan.
The first edition of the MS Motosuit Series had Irwin Ramas-Uypitching bagging the ROY award. The second edition was topped by Juvanni Abellar, while Seigfred Ornopia won it in 2008.
“I congratulate all the other riders who also won awards and for those who haven’t received awards to try harder. It’s an honor to have this but it’s also a challenge to do better this year,” added Adlawan.
Another fast-rising rider, John Flores, was the overall champion in the novice open production, while Dongkey Sanchez ruled the local enduro, open enduro and beginners open production classes.
The other category champions who were honored include BJ Pepito (pewee), Brylle Ornopia (mini),
Dr. Felipe Montejo (executive C), Jun Enriquez (executive B), Siegfred Ornopia (executive A), and Jovenille Abellar (intermediate Category).
Congressman-elect Benjur Salimbangon of the fourth district of Cebu, MS Motosuit main man Lou Ornopia and Daanbantayan councillor-elect Malou Pepito handed over the plaques of recognition to MS Motosuit’s top riders of 2009.
