USPF belles begin quest for national glory in Shakey's G-League

- Marigold Lebumfacil -

CEBU, Philippines - The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) begins its tough quest for glory as they clash against the country’s best jun ior volleybelles today at the start the 7th Shakey’s Girls V-League National Finals billed as “Tournament of Champions” in Tacloban City.

The Jordan Paca-mentored USPF will count the most from team captain Jinky Garridos and Cyd Demecillo along with newcomers Charie Mae Liaz, Maria Niña Fernandez, Sheena Quiño and Shyrra Cabriana.

USPF also pins its hopes on reinforcements Athena Sucalit and Grethcel Soltones of PNHS and Excel Ignacio of Don Gerardo Ouano Memorial National High School.

USPF advanced into the national stage after dethroning Pajo National High School to snap out of its two-year title drought.

USPF actually swept the first four stagings of the annual event. And in those instances it represented Cebu in the national finals, it finished second in 2004 to 2006 and landed third in 2007.

Hope Christian School of Manila is back to defend its national title in the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF)-sanctioned tilt supported by Mikasa, Toby’s Sports, Dunkin’ Donuts and Metro Sports.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
