Super Idols whip YLAC in IBP caging

CEBU, Philippines - The Super Idols of playing coach Bong Pepito crushed the Young Lawyers Association of Cebu (YLAC), 64-55, even as the Iron Eagles and the Pecandela Law Firm also logged wins at the start of the second round of elimination in the 4th Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario Street, this city.

     The Iron Eagles defeated the Mt. Zion, 66-62, while the Pecandela Law Firm scored a 59-50 triumph over the Jun Felicitas-led Pañeros.

The Super Idols led by as much as 18 points, 53-35, heading towards the final canto behind the excellent quarter-backing skills of Ramsey Quijano.

Val Ligutan and Resty Arnaiz staged a last ditch rally for YLAC, but time was not on their side.

Banjo Santiago topscored for the Super Idols with 16 points. Ligutan and Arnaiz had 18 and 10 points, respectively, for YLAC.

Earlier, Flav Hiyas hauled 21 points for the Iron Eagles followed by Jan Vallecer with 15.

In the nightcap, four Pecandela Law Firm players cashed in double figures led by Francis Pepito with 14 points. Jessie Capoy posted 11 points markers, while Tommy Yu and Ivan Gamallo each scored 10.
