Fernandez clinches silver in Hajime judo tourney

CEBU, Philippines - Bemedalled Cebuano judoka Vicente “Nonoy” Fernandez III added feathers on his cap following a decent finish in the 2010 Hajime Judo Competition at the Ateneo de Manila University the other day.

Fernandez came up with a silver in his latest battle.

As if taking cue from the event’s name itself Hajime, which means start of a practice or competition, Fernandez is back in the groove and is expected to reap more honors as the next school-year unfolds next month.

The multi-titled Fernandez is one of the country’s prospects to become world-class judoka just like the the multi-awarded John Baylon.

The sterling performances of Fernandez in the last school-year paved the way for him to become one of the few recipients of the ‘Maroon Jacket’ from his alma mater, University of the Philippines-Dilliman.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
