Siso Sisters advance to semis

CEBU, Philippines - Sisters Sally Mae and Sallydine Siso, who are fresh from victories in Dumaguete City, wasted no time for rest and showed their class in the third day of the 15th Gullas Tennis Cup at the clay courts of Cebu Country Club yesterday.

The Siso sisters, who came back with a champions trophies in the Smart-Head Age-Group Tennis Circuit-Dumaguete leg, won their quarterfinal assignments.

Sally Mae was forced to play back-to-back games yesterday, which was still a lighter assignment compared to having to play six straight games in Dumaguete City the other day.

In the 18-under class, Sally Mae wasted no time and posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Elgy Dasian while her elder sister, Sallydine, chalked a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Mary Adriane Toledo.

The Siso sisters will be joining Kristel Mae Buenacosa, who defeated Khara Lei Abadia, 6-3, 6-4; and either Bianca Cenabre and Elma Dasian, who will contest the last semis slot.

Sally Mae Siso is also the first one to advance to the semifinal round of the girls’16 after defeating Hannah Grace Espinosa, 6-0, 6-2.

Elgy Dasian, who got beaten by Sally Mae earlier, bounced back and gained a semifinal entry in the girls’14 under after outsmarting Berlie Blythe Bunaghug,6-1, 6-3.

Other semifinalists in the girls’14 are Erika Keller after defeating Marie Andre

Toledo, 6-2, 6-3 and Crissiane Issa Kintanar and Francis Lorein Lanzado after overpowering Clarrisa Mae Fuentes, 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 and Karla Cristy Go, 6-1, 6-1 respectively.

The boys’16’s semifinal cast is now complete as well with Reynaldo Dimao going up against Dan Eldred Cinco, and Francis Dominic Lanzado opposite Fritz Satera.

Dimao ended Leomar Sarvida’s bid with a 6-2, 6-0 win. Cinco escaped defeat against Louie Mark Pestaño, 6-1, 3-6, 10-3, while Lanzado silenced Christian Dave Villareal, 6-1, 6-1 and Satera dumped Mark Norman Enriquez, 6-1, 6-4.

Dimao also sizzled in the boys’14 under, moving up to the next round together with Mark Dennis Garlet after silencing Jeff Balatero, 7-5, 6-3, 6-1 and Jan Godfrey Seno, 6-1, 6-1 respectively.

Seno, however, made it in the 12-under category along with Christopher Encarnacion, Joshua Kinaadman and Clyde Dujali.

Seno posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jeff Balatero; Encarnacion whipped King Paler, 6-0, 6-2; Kinaadman won by default; and Dujali pulled away a hard-earned 6-2, 2-6, 12-10 win against Gener Francis Lambayan. – THE FREEMAN
