MANILA, Philippines - CEBU, Philippines - Sally Mae Siso’s aim of a double grandslam is now within reach after advancing to two divisions without sweat in the 1st Palawan Pawnshop Express Padala National Junior Tennis Circuit-Cebu leg at the Cebu Country Club yesterday.
Siso is set to face Hannah Espinosa in the penultimate round of the girls’ 16 class while the other semifinal match will have Elma Dasian against Crissiane Issa Kintanar.
In the girls’ 18, Siso, who also enjoyed a bye, will be facing Kristel Mae Buenacosa while Claire Lazaga meets Dasian.
Sally Mae’s brother, Niño, for his part, hopes to bounce back from a bad performance in a tournament prior to this one by pulling a convincing 6-0,6-2 win against Joel de la Torre in the boys’18 class.
Niño will be tackling Fritz Satera in the semifinal round.
On the other hand, another Dasian, Elgie is also into the penultimate round through the girls’ 14 versus Crissiane Issa Kintanar.
Zethley Mae Alferez also moved a step closer to the title after defeating Beverly Enriquez, 6-3, 6-1 and so is Sheena Camporedondo after silencing Alexie Santos in the girls’ 12 category.
In the boys’12, Christopher Encarnacion dumped Ashton Repunte while Mark Go enjoyed a walkover win to advance to the semifinal round.
In the unisex 10-under class, the semifinal cast include Alexie Santos, Rey Dante Toledo, Kara Salimbangon and Zeth Mae Alferez. (FREEMAN NEWS)
