- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - The visiting players from San Carlos City, Sta.Rita squad, prevented Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu from going up ahead in the team standings after outsmarting the latter, 3-2, in the players 17 division of the Cebu Amateur Football Club-organized 10th National Inter-Club Football Tournament yesterday at the University of San Carlos-Technological Center in Brgy. Talamban, this city.

SHS-AdC took command in the early goings of the game with Delbert Tan delivering the goal at the 7th of the game.

Nine minutes after, Sta. Rita scored the equalizer courtesy of Nelson Ybanez’s goal.

With a 1-all deadlock going into the second half, SHS-AdC looked for another way to break the tie that led to Miguel Saa from scoring at the 60th.

What could have been SHS-AdC’s third win was spoiled when Sta. Rita managed to score two goals in the dying minutes.

Jomar Carseay’s attempt going in at the 78th and then John Tonsira in the final minute pushed Sta. Rita to its first victory, while snapping out of SHS-AdC’s two-game win streak.

In the players 17, Don Bosco Technology Center nailed lopsided victory over Danao, 15-0.

Doraemon dumped Consolacion in the men’s open division, 13-0, while the University of San Jose-Recoletos egded out USC, 3-2.

The 38-above division last Tuesday evening saw the Queen City United-A bowing to San Roque Football Club, 2-1, and Erco outsmarting Hiroshi, 3-1.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
