FYA stays unbeaten in JS caging
CEBU, Philippines - The F. Llamas Youth Association (FYA) mentored by brothers Noel and Baeng Medalle extended its winning streak to three after running over Dewfoam, 78-75, in the JS Contractor’s Cup 2010 basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.
Dewfoam tied the count at 71-all with just two minutes left in the game, but Tata Laborte and incoming UC Webmaster Daniel Enriquez came in to FYA’s rescue by delivering clutch baskets for the pivotal win.
Laborte and Enriquez paced FYA with 19 and 16 points, respectively, while Elgin Cololot led Dewfoam with 23 points.
Earlier, defending champion Mawin’s Kitchen prevailed over Emilmich, 75-72.
Ex-USC Warrior Bong Eleazar topscored for Mawin’s Kitchen with 15 points as they improved their win-loss record to 2-1.
In the other close battle of a featured triple-header, the Fatima cagers prevailed over the winless Jack N Jill, 68-65.
