11 sporting events to spice up Cebu Festival

CEBU, Philippines - Nearly a dozen sporting events will spice up the Cebu Festival 2010 set from May 1 to 8 at the South Road Properties. Among the events to be contested are baseball, softball, flag football, tough rugby, football, car show and drag race, ultimate Frisbee, boxing, mixed martial arts, run, and motocross.

The festival at SRP will start off with the two-day motocross and drag race action where riders from Cebu and other parts of the country will try to overpower each other.

Softball and baseball will start on May 2 and then resume on the 7th and 8th.

The rest of the events will also take place on May 8.

To beef up the show, Pyroworks will attempt to set a Guinnes world record for the most firework rockets launched in 30 seconds.The record attempt aims to launch a total of 120,000 rockets.

“The world record attempt will bring recognition to the ingenuity of our local talents.It will prove that we are very much capable of competing with players of global pyrotechnic industry.The attempt will show that we can even break a world record at a fraction of the cost.Thus, I urge the Cebuanos to come down and enjoy this once in a lifetime spectacle that no one else in the world has witnessed before,” said Brian Lim of Pyroworks.
