Super Idols clobber Pañeros in IBP hoopla

CEBU, Philippines - Defending champion Super Idols mauled erstwhile pace-setter Pañeros, 76-42, to regain the top spot in the 4th Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym along Escario street, this city.

 The Super Idols, thus, shot back to the overall lead with a 6-1 win-loss record, while the Pecandela Law Firm and Young Lawyers Association of Cebu (YLAC) shared the second place with identical 5-2 win-loss slates.

In the other games, Pecandela defeated the Bros N Law bannered by the Rama brothers Estong and Enric, 54-50, YLAC demolished the Iron Eagles, 60-39, while Mt. Zion salvaged a 65-56 win over the listless Yan C. Rico.

Benjo Santiago paced the Super Idols with a game-high 31 points, while Fermin Pepito added 19 points. Ting Ordeniza led the Pañeros with a measly 12 points.

On the other hand, Francis Pepito and Mark Russ Gamallo ignited Pecandela’s crucial 24-20 run in the final period to escape with a four-point victory. Pepito had 15 points for Pecandela, while Gamallo and Tommy Yu added 12 and 11 markers, respectively.

Francis Javelosa topscored for Bros N Law with 17 points.
