Bernaldez mauls Terreon in Cortes Inter-Club boxing

CEBU, Philippines - Mark Bernaldez of Ebalang Boxing Club overpowered Jumar Terreon of Gastador Boxing Club in their face-off during the 2nd Mayor Jonas C. Cortes Cup Amateur Boxing Championship the other night at the Mandaue City Plaza Square.

Bernaldez stopped Terreon at 1:54 of the opening round, while Robert Labanza of Taroja Boxing Club and Rhiyan Jade Canillas of Welbeth BC also triumphed in the other 57 kgs. matches. Labanza mauled Rummy Camporedondo, while Canillas subdued Robert Etorma.

In the 52 kgs. division, Jared Payao of Omega BC trounced Elmer Puno of Flores BC, while Christian Apawan thwarted Sherwin Caday of Sanai BC.

Four fighters emerged victorious in the 46 kgs. bracket. Ferde San Roque of Welbeth BC forced Richard Quilatan of Gastador BC to wave the white flag of surrender with only 50 seconds left in round one, while Jessel Mark Magsayo, Danlou Codilla and Jacklord Dao-ay conquered Vanz Cabahug, Gerry Baoga and Arde Boyose, respectively.

Kevin Jake Catarja and Christian Bacolod caught part of the spotlight after edging out Jason Dicoy and Elecio Taruc.

Ranier Rama and Kint Mike Tuñacao of the Philippine-Australian BC were successful in their 24 kgs. campaigns against Marvin Pesalbon and Ramel Casañares.

Still in the 24 kgs., Malcolm Tuñacao Jr. of Flores BC outclassed Lyde Bacolod with 46 seconds to go in the second round, while Jomar Caspe fended off Mark Anthony Ybañez.

Completing the list of winners were Patrick Gulani against Ryan Cagatulla (54 kgs.), Belmar Espina over Niñorick Glipo (50 kgs.) and Bryan Remedio opposite Ronaldein Ignacio (36 kgs.). (FREEMAN NEWS)
