Amateur boxfest in Mandaue City

CEBU, Philippines - Eighty-five boxers coming from different clubs in Cebu will vie for the top honors in the Inter-club Amateur Boxing Competition at the Mandaue City Plaza Square tonight.

Leading the cast are the members of the Mandaue City team led by Mark Bernaldez and Basilio Sultan as well as Rommel Tuñacao and Rheson Tarona.

The tournament, which is organized by the ALA Promotions along with the Mandaue City Sports Development Commission, will end on Sunday with five professional boxing bouts.

The pro bouts are also something to look forward to as Eman Labanza and Romano Gelig will be out for a rematch and former National training pool member Welbeth Loberanis debuts in the pro ranks against Rommel Banquirego in a 4-round battle.
