Lefty's great shot
When Phil Mickelson hit the green with his second shot from behind the trees on hole number 13 of Augusta National during the final round of the Masters, it was the shot that won him the tournament.
He would have made it more spectacular had he nailed that eagle putt, but the birdie was still more than enough to give him the cushion en route to his third green jacket.
While I am a Tiger Woods fan, I could not help but gawk at seeing how Phil nailed that shot.
The scene after the final hole was quite touching when he hugged his wife, Amy.
Phil took a leave from the Tour when his wife was diagnosed with cancer, which explains why he has a pink ribbon on his cap.
Of course, you don’t need to have somebody dear to support the cause for the fight against cancer.
I believe there were many wet eyes seeing that very emotional display of the Mickelson couple.

The Island Tee of Mactan Island Golf Club is set next week. The tournament is set to tee off on the 22nd and will run until the 25th.
This is going to be a member-guest tournament.
I got a call from Retired General Rodante Joya yesterday morning and he said that many club members are having a hard time looking for guest partners for the tournament.
Although the event runs for four days, teams will only play two rounds within that period.
General Joya said that they are now looking at the possibility to allowing members to pair off with fellow members.
I haven’t played the MIGC course for some time, but I am very much aware of the changes that have been made, which according to those I have asked, have made the course more interesting to play.
Maybe the members of the other clubs don’t know how much the MIGC has evolved in the past few years under the watchful eyes of General Joya, who may have retired from the Philippine Air Force, but is now the club’s general manager.

Next month, Alta Vista Golf and Country Club will be holding its own member-guest tournament, The View Invitational. Unfortunately for those who have not been paying close attention, the registration is already full.
There are still slots for guests though, so non-members of the club better start calling your friends from Alta Vista if they would want to be paired off with you.
Of course, the easiest way to join the tournament is to be a sponsor. You can contact the tournament committee members for that.

MILESTONES: Belated birthday greetings to our Tatay, Cirpriano F. Quiñones, Sr., who turned a year older last Monday. Tatay Junior as we fondly call him, is a younger brother of my father.
The same goes to my high school classmate Fr. Rogel Anecito L. Abais, S.J., who turned a year older yesterday along with my good friend Kenneth Tan.
Today’s greetings go to my mistah Donald Madarang and classmate Gwendolyn Eronico-Piansay and Pompeyo Davnar Almagro.
More power to all of you!
