Durabend keeps lead in Architects' caging

CEBU, Philippines – Durabend-Datu Lapulapu escaped with a 45-42 victory over Savers Home Depot-Cebu/Sugbu to firm up its grip of the overall lead in the United Architects Basketball Club (UABC) Season 4 Corporate Cup at the Cebu Eastern College (CEC) gym.

Jay Ramodes cashed in 12 points and five rebounds as Durabend notched its fourth victory against a solitary loss. It was Elmer Laguna though who emerged as player of the game after dishing out eight points, four rebounds, one assist and one block.

After taking an early 11-8 lead, Durabend scored only four in the second quarter, but regained its offensive bearing in the third period to once again dictate the tempo of the match.

Durabend then warded off a last ditch rally by Savers Home Depot to hang on to a three-point win.

Like Ramodes, Rebosura was the lone double-digit scorer with 10 for Savers Home Depot, which fell to 3-2 to forge a three-way tie at second place with Gyproc and Boysen-Rajah Humabon.

Teams Violet and Orange lagged at the cellar with only one win in five starts.

After a long break in observance of the Holy Week, action resumes this Sunday with three games on tap still at the same venue.
