12th View Invitational set May 20-23
CEBU, Philippines - It’s all systems go for the 12th edition of The View Invitational set on May 20 to 23 at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club (AVGCC).
The View is a member-guest competition wherein each member could invite any player from all over the country or abroad to be his partner.
This year, the organizers are expecting golfers from their sister clubs in Manila and Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
However, chairman of the board Renato “Oly” Dychangco, Jr. said that they are limiting the number entries to 200 teams or 400 participants only.
“We only have a maximum of 400 players because if it would exceed, there would be a tendency that some of the teams would no longer finish their respective flights,” said Dychangco during a press conference yesterday at AVGCC clubhouse.
The Freeman managing editor Nimrod NL Quiñones, the club’s committee chairman on sports and games said that this is the first time that they will stage the annual tilt in May.
“In the past View Invitational, we usually hold it in June or July but as what we’ve noticed, it has always been raining during this month. So, we decided to have it on May this year so that we could have fine weather during the tournament,” said Quiñones.
The four-day contest follows the 36-hole Modified Stableford format. It features six categories: A, B, C and D, seniors and ladies.
There will be top three winners in each division and two overall champions for the lowest net and lowest gross.
Over P3 million worth of prizes await the top performers, specifically the amateur golfers who could score a hole-in-one and an eagle.
A brand new KIA car, Sta. Lucia lot, club car, club share, Skygo motorcycle and a lot more will be given away to golfers who could make such rare feats.
In the event a hole-in-one or an eagle is made by more than one player, the corresponding prize shall be divided equally among them.
Registration fee is pegged at P3,500 per player. All the participants are assured of a golf bag after teeing off.
“We assure that this tournament would be fun and exciting with the amazing prizes that will be giving away to the participants,” said Dychangco. (FREEMAN NEWS)
