USC faces CIT in Partner's Cup quarterfinals
CEBU, Philippines - The second seed San Marino Corned Tuna-USC Warriors will face the seventh-ranked Bibbo-CIT Wildcats when the CESAFI Partner’s Cup quarterfinals begin on March 6 at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Warriors officially finished as second placer after scoring a 69-62 victory over Prime Asia-DBTC Greywolves in a non-bearing game the other night, while the Wildcats fell to no. 7 after losing to the Aerosol-USPF Panthers, 63-77.
The Warriors along with no. 3 PTT Fuels-UV Lancers and no. 4 Enervon C-UC Webmasters will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage against their lower-ranked foes.
In a 5-1 tie with the Ave Maria Sanctuary Park/USJ-R Jaguars, the Warriors barely lost the top spot by a virtue of a simple tie as they lost to the former in the tournament’s opening day last month.
In the secondary division, the 6-0 UC Junior Webmasters, the only team which completed an elimination round sweep, also draw a bye in the quarterfinals.
Therefore, no. 2 seed CIT Wildkittens will meet no. 7 Junior Greywolves in the next stage, while no. 3 UV Baby Lancers go up against no. 6 USPF Baby Panthers. The no. 4 USJ-R Baby Jaguars are pitted against no. 5 USC Baby Warriors. (GGM) (FREEMAN NEWS)
