Camotes Island Cross-Country Mountainbike Challenge set March 20

CEBU, Philippines - After invading Masbate, Cebuano mountainbikers get ready for another challenge through the 5th Mayor Al Arquillano Cup-Camotes Island Cross-Country Mountainbike Challenge on March 20 in San Francisco, Camotes Island.

Unlike in the other races done recently, the event features eight categories for a better classification.

These include the seniors, juniors, veterans, masters, executives/professionals, golden boys, fat boys and beginners.

Competing in the event seems like touring all over San Franciso as they will start and end at the town proper passing through Monte Alegre, Kanganay, Himankungan, Kolo, Consuelo, Lokbon, Manghakilo, Maibago, Union, Esperanza, Soong, Cabunga-an, Sta.Cruz, and Talisay.

Cash prizes will be given away to the top 10 finishers in all categories except in the executive/professional class.

The seniors division gets the biggest share of the pie, with the champion taking away P3,000 while the second and third will receive P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. The top three in the juniors, veterans and masters will take away a uniform cash prize of P2,500, P1,500 and P1,000.

Registration is free and all the participants will receive a souvenir t-shirt and a packed lunch. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
