CBM is virtual champ in Osky swimfest

-

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Blue Marlins Swim Club virtually defended its crown after posting a very comfortable lead in the penultimate day of the 2nd Osky Mabilog Swiming Cup and National Youth try-out at the Cebu City Sports Center.

CBM of coach Rolando Alvarez zoomed to the top with 5,262.5 points coming from the 48 golds, 38 silvers and 29 bronzes it hauled, so far.

Silliman University is at second place with 1,572.5 points followed by Negros Oriental Blue Dolphins with 1,124 points, Panaad Swim Club with 1,071 points and the Binirayan Tadpoles with 777 points.

Rounding up the top 10 cast in this Philippine Aquatics Sports Association-sanctioned and Aquamundo-sponsored event were the NOGCCSC (733), First United Davao Swim Club (542) and Bohol Dolphins (348).

The likes of Noel Caneda, Paula Abigail Vega, Aimee Sanchez, Renan Gabriel Tapang, Michael Ichiro Kong, Lyh Ann Navarro and the little-known Paolo Zosa were among the key players in CBM’s unassailable gold medal harvest.

Aside from winning medals, they are also in hot pursuit for valuable slots to the RP Youth Team that will see action in the 34th Southeast Asia Age-Group Swimming Championships set from June 3 to 5 in Manila. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN NEWS)
