UV, UC in crucial Partner's Cup match tonight
CEBU, Philippines - Unless Greg Slaughter will suit up for the PPT Fuels-UV Lancers, no one can defend the 6-foot-9 tower June Mar Fajardo and it seems that he will be unstoppable for the Enervon C-UC Webmasters in today’s crucial game of the 4th CESAFI Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.
Games today
(Cebu Coliseum)
1 pm DBTC vs. USC (jrs.)
2:30 pm USJ-R vs. USPF (grs.)
4 pm CIT vs. USJ-R (srs.)
5:30 pm UV vs. UC (Srs.)
With the Ave Maria Sanctuary Park-USJ-R Jaguars poised to take an elimination round sweep when they take on the Bibbo-CIT Wildcats later in the day, the Lancers and the Webmasters are both needing a win with hopes of earning a twice-to-beat advantage going into the next phase of the tournament.
The top team will gain outright semifinal berth, while the second and third seed will enjoy a twice-to-beat incentive against the No.4 and No.5 squads. The Lancers and the Webmasters are currently tied with 2-2 win-loss records.
Fajardo, the center of attraction in UC’s hardcourt date against the Lancers, is the bread-and-butter of the Webmasters. Of course, he need the support of the likes of Moncrief Rogado, Kelvin Juliane, Edward Pao, Kevin Quilantang and Rommel Luceno.
The Lancers, on the other hand, are banking on the experience of Phil Mercader, Edrian Lao, Mark Anthony Manigque, Harold Cincoflores and Jerome Silva.
For the Jaguars who are on a four-game winning roll, they heavily rely on the experience of Armand Ponce, Jabe Delfino and Manny Gabas, who will join forces with Edwin Bibera, Kurt Amores and Marvin Duran.
They will go up against the unpredictable Wildcats crew that largely depends on Jerry Jaca, Gerry Cavan and Sherwin Abobo. (GGM) (FREEMAN NEWS)
