LABA, BRBA reach semis in CGBL caging
CEBU, Philippines - The Mandaue City-based Los Amigos Basketball Association (LABA) and the Better Run Basketball Association (BRBA) knocked out separate rivals to reach the semifinal round of the Cebu Golden Basketball League (CGBL) at the Inayawan Sports Complex.
The LABA squad, led by Banilad, Mandaue Brgy. Capt Glenn Bercede, ousted the Danao Ruby Star Basketball Association (DARUSBA), 84-73. Being the no.3 qualifier, however, LABA has to beat twice the second-ranked Minglanilla Basketball Association (MIBA).
In the other game, Pactio Campos exploded with 51 points as the Better Run terminated the short-handed Naga Above Forty Basketball Association (NAFBA) by the narrowest of margins, 110-109. Like LABA, Better Run of founder and club adviser Danny Duran faces a tall order next as it battles the topseed.
