Cebu Rotary Run set next Sunday

CEBU, Philippines - A huge field is expected to join the 2nd Cebu Rotary Run which fires off on February 21, Sunday, starting and ending at SM City Cebu.

“More than 1,500 runners are expected to participate with the support of the big family of Rotary District 3860,” said race organizer and chairman, Kenneth Casquejo during the press conference yesterday at Cebu Parklane International Hotel.

A total of 33 rotary clubs in the Queen City of the South will be participating in this annual race and this is also open to non-Rotarians.

 The said event features two unique races for both men and women’s divisions namely the 15K and 7K Open category. Completing the classes are the kiddie dash, 3K Rotarian fun run and executive.  

Cash prizes, trophies and medals will be given to the top 10 finishers in the different categories.

 The organizers will also be giving special awards including the biggest delegation for Rotary and for non-Rotary groups, oldest and youngest runner, best running couple, best running family and best in costume.

The 2nd Cebu Rotary Run is hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Banilad Metro and Cebu West and is one of the highlights of the Rotary Week that aims to promote a positive and active lifestyle for all ages.

The proceeds of this event will go to the Rotary Foundation for its “End Polio Now” campaign.

 “Last year we’re more on the environment friendly campaign and this year we jived into the medical aspect with our “End Polio Now” campaign in order to help in lessening polio cases in the Cebu and in the country as well,” said Casquejo.

Registration fee is pegged at P150.00 that would entitle the runner to a race kit.

Registration for the 2nd Cebu Rotary Run is on-going from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) office at Cebu City Sports Center, Toby’s SM Northwing, Colette’s Buko Pie SM Branch (near National Bookstore) and Runnr in Ayala Center Cebu.

Deadline for registration is on February 19. No more registration will be entertained on the race day.
