CEBU, Philippines - People Team A bagged the titles in the volleyball and badminton events during the 3rd edition of the Society of Young Business executives and Entrepreneurs (SYBEE) Olympics at the University of San Carlos courts.

People Team A, bannered by the Human Resource Development Management (HRDM)-bannered students, reigned supreme in the women’s volleyball competition after pummeling Prodigy A,18-25, 25-20, 25-14.

The winning team was composed of Donalyn Perez, Rhea Alivio, Ciara Tan, Cherry Ochea, Leavel Niza Alinson, Tiara Tura, Marie Abigail Mayol and Leodi Gaile Ramos.

Prodigy A Team manned by Double Major students of Marketing and Entrepreneurship, on the other hand, bounced back for their women counterpart’s failure after snatching the men’s crown trouncing sister squad Prodigy B, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19.

The exemplary performances of Carlito Aguilar, Matias Asane, Direk Co, Dan Perolino, Roy Olita, Paulo Candari and Krishna Methani powered Prodigy Team to victory.

In Badminton, People Team A’s powerful duo, Erika Gutib and Timothy Joshua Co clinched the mixed doubles tiara after thrashing Kate Shielo Ang and John Carlo Bartiquin of BlueTeam.

On the other hand, the men and women’s singles titles were snatched by Kaizen (Operations Management) and Blue (Executive Resource Management) teams, respectively.

Gerald Pepito of Kaizen secured the men’s trophy while Kate Shielo Ang took the women’s diadem.

In basketball, People Team A will have brighter chances of getting the crown after it earned a championship ticket this Saturday at the Sacred Heart School (SHS-J) gym.

People Team A will clash against Prodigy A for the rightful owner of the basketball crown, which was kept by Kaizen for the past two years.

Fighting for third are Solex Team (legal management) and the Finance Team (finance management).

In the semifinal round, the undefeated People Team A with 3-0 card defeated Solex Team, 64-47.

Prodigy A, on the other hand, pummeled sister team Prodigy C, 59-54, however, Prodigy C was not allowed to play for the third place after violating a rule, after allowing a non-member player participate, thus, giving Fiance Team an easy ticket to the battle for third place being the fifth placer in the ranking.

SYBEE is an organization of all business administration and commerce students of the University of San Carlos.
