Don Bosco bootfest gets underway today

CEBU, Philippines - The 7th Don Bosco Football Festival goes full blast today in Brgy. Punta Princesa with the Bosconians hoping to accomplish their mission of defending their turf.

Organizers hope for a smooth-sailing action today so they can finish early and be able to catch up with the procession of the Sr. Sto. Niño.

The participants teams include Bright Academy, Sacred Heart School-Jesuit, University of San Carlos, Danao and Mactan Football Club, Pomeroy, Rainbow, San Roque, and Cebu Institute of Technology.

Some Kenyan nationals and other foreign students from Southwestern University are also set to see action.

A total of nine titles are at stake in the festival-type event. The categories to be featured are under-8, 10, 12, 14, 17, men’s open, 38-above, girl ’17 and ladies open.

The event is among the highlights of Don Bosco’s 56th Founder’s Day celebration.

Meanwhile, the volleyball and basketball tournaments have been moved to January 30. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
