Galan chess event this weekend in Apas
CEBU, Philippines - Cebuano chess enthusiasts will once again converge today for the Sammy R. Galan Chess Tournament at the Brgy. Apas Sports Complex. Gametime starts at 1 pm today and will resume at 9 am on Sunday.
The 7-round Swiss system competition features three categories: Class B, kiddies and women’s open.
The champion in Classs B will receive P1,500, while the second, third and fourth will pocket P1,000, P500 and P300, respectively. The fifth to seventh place will get a consolacion prize of P200 each.
The top finisher in the kiddies class will take home P1,000, while the second to fifth will get P500, P300, P200 and P100. The top three winners in the women’s bracket will earn P600, P400 and P200.
Registration fee is pegged at P75 for Class B, P50 for the kiddies, and P30 for the women’s category. – EBV (THE FREEMAN)
