Araneta rules first leg of Cebu Cycling Weekly Race

CEBU, Philippines - JV Araneta started the year with a bang by winning the first race of 2010 in the Cebu Cycling Weekly Race at the Mandaue City reclamation area.

Araneta, a doctor by profession and columnist of The Freeman, defeated Nanie Quijano for the top spot in the C2 class.

Araneta’s victory made him one of the riders to watch out for in the Cebu Recycle–Luzvimin Cycling Series slated on January 23.

Tata Codina grabbed the third place honors, while Hyde Esmalin and Tyre Lambo wound up fourth and fifth, respectively.

In the battle of Cebu’s former top pedal-pushers now under classs B, Ricky Ermitanio took home the first place honors after outsmarting Nilo Barbalose.
