17th leg of MS MOTOSUIT MOTOCROSS SERIES Conde scores upset

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - The 17th and final leg of the 2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series yielded a very surprising result as Ted Conde pulled off one big upset over early title favorites to rule the experts division of the Mayor Neneth Reluya Motocross Cup the other day in Brgy. Poblacion, San Fernando, Cebu.

Even if the overall championship was already in his bag as he accumulated the most number of points in the 17-leg action, MS Motosuit endorser Jon-Jon Adlawan remained in fighting mood with hopes of putting a perfect icing on his victory. He was frustrated in the end by the more aggressive and determined Conde.

Adlawan actually ruled the first heat, but he got into trouble with Erwin Uypitching and Venil Abellar when their motorbikes got entangled with each other that greatly affected their overall performances.

The rest of the riders took advantage of the situation, paving the way for Conde’s unexpected triumph in a field of tough opposition. Grizzled veteren Pepo Rubi came in second followed by Abellar.

Kimboy Pineda, Adlawan’s biggest obstacle in another race earlier, salvaged only the intermediate title this time.

Jess Pineda, on the other hand, outsmarted John Flores to claim the top honors in the novice open production.

Sam Dimaporo of Lanao del Norte prevented Jesse Pineda from a double victory by edging out the latter to lord it over in the beginners open production. Uloy Dimaporo copped the third place honors. It was an all-Dimaporo show as Sittie stamped her class in the girls division followed by Gine Calago and Apple Dimaporo.

Donkey Sanchez succeeded in nailing twin titles via the local and open enduro, while Bonnie Bustillo placed second in both categories.

As usual, Keiz BJ Racing Team big boss Seigfred Ornopia shone the brighter in the executive A, while host Nonoy Reluta reigned supreme in the executive B. It was Jok Bustaliño who packed home the executive C crown.

Jingoy Mayol topped the mini class, BJ Pepito emerged the fastest in the pewee division and Dexter Regala dominated the underbone race.

Buboy Fernandez, trainer and best friend of boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao, also joined the competition but failed to go home with a trophy after suffering a mechanical trouble.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
