Team NCR relishes impressive 2009 showing, braces for tougher challenge ahead

-

CEBU, Philippines - The members of Team No Care Racing (NCR) relishes with pride what had been a fruitful campaign in their maiden voyage in autoross racing, even as they look forward to a tougher, more challenging battle in the coming year.

Though they were just testing the waters in 2009, the NCR drivers fought at a highly competitive level as evident of the numerous trophies they hauled in different categories they joined in, particulary in the Philippine Championship Auitocross Series mainly staged at Parkmall.

“This season had been a time of experimentation and true competition. Team NCR found its way fighting for the top standings and many of the classes versus the formidable Team DGL. There was not much expectation for the team drivers but to go out, give it our best and compete,” said Team NCR top driver Jong King.

Inspite of a limited budget, Team NCR got the surprise of themselves as they performed beyond expectations, thanks to their ingenuity, craftiness fortitude and above all team spirit.

“There was surprise from how the team did with different categories and working on a limited budget. As the season became more and more competitive, Team NCR found ways to stay at the top by working on modifications and tuning techniques,” said King, who wound up fourth overall in the race for the coveted ‘Rider of the Year’ won by speed demon David G. Lim.

“But it was the unity and the fighting spirit of the team as well as the unflinching support of our corporate backers that brought us the wins and experience we needed for the coming 2010 season,” he added.

King also finished third overall in the Open C class, whole the rest of his teammates also made waves in their respective divisions.

Philip Khan “Liklik” Lim emerged as the overall champion in the Novice            Stock A, second overall in the Novice Stock C. Novice Modified B and Automatic class and Dennis Corro bagged the overall title in the Old School category aside from placing second in the Novice Stock A.

Bobby Pangilinan took home the overall crown in the Rear Wheel Drive and wound up third in the Sports Car, Alan “Big Al” G. Choachuy settled for second place overall in the Sports Car and third in the Automatic, while Antonio Almario copped the second place trophy in the Old School.

With the way things are going on for them, the NCR daredevils are brimming with confidence as they bid for another successful journey next year.

“Things are quite positive for Team NCR for the coming autocross season especially with the new street tire regulations. Team NCR’s drivers know where we stand amongst the best drivers of autocross and with the new tire regulation in place, we can only prove where we truly place with all our autocross experience and competitiveness - at the top!” blurted out King.

As initial step to their highly ambitious goal for 2010, Choachuy said they will be parading two new cars in Toyota MRS, a two-door sports car sponsored by Dewfoam and a Lancer EVO zero bankrolled by Durabend.

“We’re planning to join regional races next season to be held in Davao, Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro,” said Choachuy. “But for sure, the team to watch out for next year is Kartzone with its top drivers in Justin Neri, Jess Garcia and Derek Arculli.”

Aside from Durabend Pipes and Dewfoam, the other corporate backers of Team NCR include Total Lubricants, Aldo Service Center, JT Wheels, Purolator Oil Filters, SeaOil Fuel, Onitsuka and the ever reliable Chery QQ.—EBV   (FREEMAN NEWS)
