Sesqui Blue Run organizers expect huge turnout of entries

-

The organizers of the Ateneo Sesqui Blue Run are expecting a huge number of entries come December 27 at the Biliran Road fronting The Terraces in Cebu Busines Park. The race promptly starts at 5:30 am.

At least 500 runners from the organizing Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB)-Cebu Chapter and alumni of Ateneo de Manila University and a bunch of locals are expected to see action.

The event features three categories -16K, 5K and a 3K- for both men and women’s division.

Benjoe Jimenez, who is handling the technical side of the race, said they decided to include the 16K class to attract long distance runners who ares preparing for the Cebu City Marathon.

“We also hope to attract the 10-milers and those training for the marathon. It’s going to be a very busy Christmas for us,” said Jimenez.

The fund-raising activity is in line with the 150th founding anniversary of Ateneo.

The Student Core Group of AGSB, which spearheads the event, hopes to raise more funds for their outreach programs for the school-year 2009-2010 as inspired by AGSB Student Council’s ideals: “Purpose of business is not only profit but also nation building”.

While striving for academic excellence, they also aim to be culturally rooted and maintain its social involvement and continue to be spiritually mature.

Registration fee is pegged at P250 inclusive of a jersey. The deadline for submission of entries is on December 26 at the Cebu City Sports Center. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
