-

CEBU, Philippines - Aboitizland Team A outsmarted ATS in its final match, 3-1, to seize the championship of the first ever The Persimmon Plus Inter-Company Chess Tourmament.

Manned by Atty. Junie Omega, Ryan Villacorta, Maggi Dionson and Mandy Baria, Aboitizland crushed the ATS of Renier Vistar, Zoilo Cadampog, Jr., Gil Baring and Jack Malabar to accumulate a total of 12.0 points after the 7-round Swiss system tilt.

San Miguel Corporation composed of Rommel Asoque, Cecil Aberion, Jolez Colmo and Bong Pabilon fought to a 2-all draw with OPASCOR’s Antonio Riveral, Mark Alasagas, Florimae Velasco and Albert Mula but that was all it needed to claim the second place honors with 10.0 points.

BSP and Company and OPASCOR finished with identical 9.0 points but BSP and Company lifted the third place trophy by virtue of a higher tie-break output of 18.0 points. OPASCOR got only 16.

BSP and Company is powered by Rodrigo Alejandre, Allan Salientes, Jeric Josson and Ramil Ajoc.

The Visayan Electric Company (VECO) of Nic Cuizon, Hansel Tejadillo, Danny Alfafara and Leo Flores completed the top five finishers with 8.0 points.

The board medallists were Rodrigo Alejandre of BSP and Company for Board 1, Mark Alasagas of OPASCOR for Board 2, Jorez Colmo of San Miguel for Board 3, and Mandy Baria of Aboitizland Team A for Board 4.
