Team DGL, NCR drivers steal show in Autocross tourney

CEBU, Philippines - David G. Lim of Team DGL galvanized his status as the country’s top car racer as he swept eight titles spotlighted by the coveted “Driver of the Year” award of the 2009 Philippine Autrocross Championship Series. The outstanding achievers of the five-leg series were formally feted in a lavish ceremony the other night at Parkmall.

Lim tallied 44 points to claim the mother of all awards, edging out teammate Mato Tan by just two points. Jess Garcia and Justin Neri of Kartzone copped the third and fourth place honors with 32 and 23 points, respectively, while Jong King of No Care Racing wound up fifth with 22 points.

Rounding up the top 10 finishers were David Lim, Jr. (17 pts.), Randay Paray (11 pts.), Philip Khan Lim (7 pts.), Derek Arculli (5 pts.) and Blake Go (5 pts.).

David Lim also lorded it over in the novice modified A, B and C as well as in the experienced modified B and C, open B and C and the all-wheel drive.

David Lim, Jr. also showed he’s on the right track in following the footsteps of his illustrious father by clinching two championship trophies via the experienced modified A and the open A.

Philip Khan Lim, Dennis Corro and Bobby Pangilinan of Team NCR also stole part of the limelight. Lim ruled the novice stock A category, Corro emerged the best in the old-school while Pangilinan reigned supreme in the rear wheel drive.

Ervin Go dominated the novice stock C and automatic transmission, Charlie Pages topped the all-BMW , while the top three in the sports car bracket were Ervin Go, Alan “Big Al” G. Choachuy and Bobby Pangilinan.

Louie Blanco also had a trip at the winners’ podium for topping the Papa Joe’s class. – EBV (FREEMAN NEWS)
