CEBU, Philippines - The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) remained undefeated after three games in the women’s division of the 1st Sinulog Jiboren’s Cup Volleyball Open last Sunday at Pasil Sports Complex.
The Jordan Paca-mentored USPF overcame a three-set thriller over the University of the Visayas (UV), 26-24, 17-25, 25-10 and later on won by default over Sawang Calero.
In the men’s division, USPF also scored a twinkill in one day to improve its win-loss record to 2-1. The Spiking Panthers slammed host Pasil, 25-10, 25-16 and then shot down 205th Technical Helicopter Wing (THW), 26-24, 25-12.
Dindo Salon X-clusivz through paced the leaderboard with an immaculate 5-0 slate. Dindo Salon claimed the Jay-r Yosores-backed Mandaue Wildcats as its latest victim in straight sets, 25-23, 25-17.
The Saiha Dragons, on the other hand, bettered their win-loss record to 3-2 after escaping past UV in three sets, 17-25, 25-22, 25-21.
The tournament is among the highlights of the annual fiesta of Barangay Pasil in honor of its beloved patron Señor Sto. Niño this January. — Marigold P. Lebumfacil
