Scourge eliminates Emilmich

CEBU, Philippines - Team Scourge pulled off a 67-63 victory to eliminate Emilmich of team owner Emily Badon in the JS Contractors’ Cup 2009 basketball tournament at the Don Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Brgy. Punta Princesa, this city.

In the other games, Victor Village drowned the Blue Marlins, 69-60, while Ritchie dumped the Soil Guard, 74-63.

Emilmich coasted to a 35-25 lead at halftime, but Scourge pulled within 45-49 before eventually wresting the driver’s seat at 64-63 with 1:30 left to play. Santino Mascardo later sank a booming triple to put Scourge safely ahead in the dying seconds.

Richard Arco paced Scourge with 21 points. Dagol Alison added 13 points followed by Mascardo with 10 as they improved their win-loss record to 4-3. Emilmich exited with an even 4-4 card.

Victor Village, on the other hand, now holds a 5-3 slate in a tie with Ritchie and Soil Guard.
