Go Pacman!

Unlike in his previous fights, it seems that the most common question now for Sunday’s (RP time) fight of Manny Pacquiao is where are people watching and not who is the better of the two.

This is obviously a sign of confidence on our champion, but Manny has made it clear that despite all odds favoring him, he’s taking the fight very seriously.

We will once again see a united nation tomorrow and if there’s one thing that makes me like Pacman, it is his ability to unite the nation when he fights in the boxing ring but not when he enters the political ring.

But of course, we must remember that these fighters do not go to the bout unprepared, so never just brush Miguel Cotto aside like you are washing off lice from your hair. He too wants the glam and fortune that Pacquiao now has, so he will go for it at all cost.

Another thing that I am looking forward to tomorrow morning would be roads that are free of traffic, not having to wait in line to pay for your purchases at the grocery, and zero crime rate even for just a few hours.

Sometimes you wish Pacquiao was fighting each day of the year so we’ll have a more peaceful nation.

Go Pacman!

The 1st Lapu-Lapu Fiesta Cup teed off yesterday and will wrap up today at the Mactan Island Golf Club.

Efren Belarmino, general manager of Plantation Bay Resort and Spa and tournament chairman, said that more than being an event held as part of the fiesta celebration of the city, this is also to boost the sports tourism efforts.

No doubt, Mactan or Lapu-Lapu City has a lot of potential in terms of sports tourism and I am happy to see the key players are really doing something concrete to that effect.

Efren said that next year, they will also be hosting the international Skal Congress, which shall bring together the key tourism players from all over the world to Cebu.

This is the reason why organizers of tournament like this are always very careful to make sure that everything works properly to encourage those who travel far just to take part in the event not only to come back but also bring more people the next time.

Many people travel far just to enjoy sports. Well we know that for a fact as every Pacquiao fight several of our congressmen and other politicians are with him.

Can you imagine how much money these people are spending just to enjoy sports? This is a multi-billion peso industry if we can do it right.
