MRD whips Copper in JS basketball tilt

CEBU, Philippines - Team MRD of playing coach Botsky Aninon scored a 95-80 rout of Copper for its fifth win in as many starts in the 3rd JS Contractor’s Cup 2009 at the VECO open court along D. Jakosalem Street, this city.

After taking a slim 23-21 lead in the opening period, the MRD hung on tough through the second and third periods before finally putting their acts together in the final canto where they unleashed their ultimate firepower to crush the Copper squad.

Erly Medel knocked in 20 points to pace MRD even as Rowel Sumalinog and Cesar Alcordo finished with 14 points apiece. Aninon tossed all his 12 points in the second period.
