Dave Lim snatches SHABA MVP award

CEBU, Philippines - Dave Lim of Pier 1 bagged the coveted MVP trophy during the awarding ceremony of the 14th Sacred Heart Alumni Basketball Association (SHABA) season recently at the Baseline Restaurant.

Lim, thus, automatically made it to the elite Mythical Five alongside his teammates Dave Ting and Kester Gajudo, Antonio Datan and Jose Marie Acha of champion team Echo Appliance Center.

Zev Amarga of Batch 2002-2006 was named as the Rookie of the Year, while Kris Villamor of the US Remnants was cited as the Most Improved Player.

SHABA commissioner Robert “Bobby Knight” Inoferio was on hand to award the trophies and medals to the outstanding team and individual achievers.

The committee picked seven players to receive the Sportsmanship Award namely Philip Maynard Ortega and Kenneth Onglatco of Island Paints, Melvin Chua of Echo, Kent de la Calzada and John Sulay of Savers Home, Brennon Gothong of Kia and Walter Ong of Worldwide Steel.

Special awards were given to Miles Quer of Pier 1 as the best point guard, Dave Ting as the best offguard, Dave Lim as best center and Eldie Cabahug of Echo as best 3-pointer.

Echo team’s Jose Marie Acha and Antonio Datan were named as the top rebounder and shotblocker, respectively.

The best defenders were Aldo Tancinco of Echo and Chad Canares of Pier 1. (GGM)   (FREEMAN NEWS)
