Cebu Marathon registration now open

CEBU, Philippines - This is it!

Registration for the Cebu Marathon slated on January 10, 2010 is now open.

Runners residing in Cebu should visit the Adidas Shop in Ayala Center or the Adidas Sports Depot in Banilad Town Center to register for the race. Cebu residents won’t be able to register online.

Non-Cebu runners or overseas participants have to log on to www.cebumarathon.com and download the registration form. After filling out the form, they have to scan and e-mail the filled-out form to register@cebumarathon.com.

Furthermore, the organizers are negotiating with sporting shops in Manila to process registration for Metro Manila residents. Details will be available soon.

The Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC) will be posting or announcing later bank information for depositing registration fee.

Registration fee are P250 for 5K, P350 for 21K and P450 for 42K for those “early birds” who could register until December 18.

Those will register on December 19, 2009 until January 4, 2010 will have to pay P300 for the 5K, P450 for the 21K and P550 for the 42K.

Overseas participants can pay the registration fee when they pick up the race pack a week before the race.

Registration fee includes a race pack (which will contain singlet and race number). The running pack will be available for pick-up the week before the Cebu City Marathon at the Marathon Expo (Asiatown I.T. Park). Runners should present receipt to claim the race pack.

“We will be adding a few more registration centers in Cebu (apart from the Adidas shops in Ayala and BTC). We’ll also open a registration center in Manila to cater to the many that have emailed and called wanting to join,” said John Pages of the organizing Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC).

After two successful running clinics, CERC is mulling for a third and last clinic within the month.

Beginners or runners who will attempt to finish their first marathon will get further help as CERC will also conduct, after the last clinic, an actual demonstration of running drills at the Cebu City Sports Center. Details of these forthcoming events will be available later.

The Cebu Marathon is part of the official Sinulog 2010 celebration and will be included in the Sinulog program of activities.

The marathon’s route is a virtual tour of the city and will bring runners to such important streets and landmarks like Capitol, Jones Avenue, Fuente Osmeña, Colon Street, Magellan’s Cross, Basilica del Sto. Niño, South Reclamation Project (SRP), Ayala Business Park and Asiatown I.T. Park which is the start/finish line.

The champion in the both the men and women categories will get P50,000 each. Winners in the 5K and 21K will receive P15,000.

Those who finish the marathon will get a commemorative t-shirt courtesy of the Aldeguer Group of Companies.
