CEBU, Philippines - Pajo National High School served serious notice of its title-retention campaign after cruising to its third straight win in as many games in the 6th Shakey’s Girls V-League Visayas regional eliminations the other day at Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex.

The Pajo belles of coach Fr. Rolando T. Manayon claimed Southcrest as their second victim via a lopsided 25-10, 25-7 decision behind the powerful attacks of Athena Sucalit and Catherin Marquez.

Pajo then followed up with a 25-18, 25-16 thrashing of the Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School.

“The girls are really determined this season. They always put in their minds that they must defend their title so they will represent Cebu again in the national finals,” said Fr. Manayon. “But we’re taking it one game at a time because we are facing tough opposition from other teams,” Manayon added.

The University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) joined Pajo atop the leaderboard also with an immaculate 3-0 record.

The Jordan Paca-mentored USPF trounced Colegio de la Immaculada Concepcion (CIC)-Mandaue, 25-12, 25-11 and won by default over St. Theresa’s College (STC).

In the other matches, Abellana National School (ANS) coasted to their second consecutive win at the expense of San Isidro Parish School , 25-7, 25-11, while the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) also scored a twinkill over St. Louis School-Mandaue, 25-16, 25-23 and Southcrest, 25-13, 25-19.

On the other hand, Don Gerardo Memorial National High School bounced back from its opening day setback to Pajo and vented its ire on MCCNHS, 25-16, 25-14 and St. Louis, 25-16, 25-15. – THE FREEMAN
