Reyes rules Cavaliers golfest
CEBU, Philippines - Col. Joey Reyes bagged the lowest net honors in last Friday’s Testimonial Golf Tournament in honor of Lt. Gen. Isagani Cachuela at the Mactan Island Golf club.
Reyes of the Philippine Army scored a gross five-over-par 77 and a net 73 in the Blind Callaway format to win the title.
The lowest gross honors went to Airman 1st Class Romano Castillon with a score of 76 strokes.
The class A title went to Retired Maj. Hospicio Razon with a net score of 73 off a gross score of 81. Runner-up honors for the premiere handicap class went to Nestor Cabrera with a net score of 74 strokes.
The class B title went to Maj. Josefino Lanuncia with a net score of 76 edging Maj. Dennis Pastor in the countback. Pastor settled for the runner-up honors.
The class C plum went to Chito Villareal of PAL scoring a net 79 beating The Freeman managing editor Nimrod Quiñones also in the countback. Quiñones took the runner-up trophy.
In the ladies division, Vergie Lou Hwang bagged the title with a net score of 74 while runner-up honors went to Liezel Parry with a net score of 76.
Special prizes went to Cdr. John Garaña for the longest drive on hole number 1, Retired Col. Chappy Guevara for nearest the pin on hole number 15 and Lt. Gen. Cachuela for the longest putt on the 18th hole.
In the Cavaliers Division, Col. Reyes also bagged the overall title with his lowest gross score of 77 strokes.
The class A title went to Lt. Gen. Cachuela with a net score of 71 while runner-up honors went to Col. Romeo Gapuz with a net score of 76.
The class B title went to Maj. Kim Agatep with a net score of 76 while Pastor took the runner-up honors again with a net 77.
The class C plum went to Maj. Janong Aromin with a net 76 edging col. Eldon Nemenzo in the countback.
The most exercised award went to Air Force 2Lt. Jeazzine Ingret Actub with a gross score of 155 strokes.
On the first day of the two-day fellowship activity of the Peemayers in the Visayas, a fun shoot was also held at the firing range of the Mactan Benito Ebuen Air Base.
Lt. Col. Marañon won the overall individual title with Lt. Col. Jequinto finishing 2nd, SSgt. Caro 3rd, 1st Lt. Pasco 4th, and Maj. Interior 5th.
The top shooter among the generals was BGen. Larry de la Cruz while Marañon topped the category for field grade officers. Pasco was the best among the company grade officers while Caro topped the enlisted class.
The 220th Airlift Wing ruled both the team vs. team and the team aggregate classes. (FREEMAN NEWS)
