Pajo volleybelles open title defense on winning note

-

CEBU, Philippines - Pajo National High School set off its title defense in height motion by thrashing the Don Gerardo Ouano Memorial National High School in straight sets at the start of 6th Shakey’s Girls V-League Visayas regional eliminations yesterday at Lapu-Lapu City Sports Complex.

The Pajo belles of coach Fr. Rolando T. Manayon whipped DGLLOMNHS with relative ease, 25-10, 25-18 behind the powerful attacks of Athena Sucalit and Catherine Marquez.

“My players made impressive performances and Don Gerardo was quiet tough but I trusted my players. They are determinated to win every game that we will have in this season because we really aim to take the title once again,” said Manayon.

“But I did not pressure my players because I believe this would be a distraction to their performance. I just give them some advice outside the court to help them. It was teamwork that best caused their triumph,” Manayon added.

In the second game, St. Louis of Mandaue City had to pass through a three-set thriller before fending off Southcrest, 21-25, 26-14, 25-19.

The developmental tournament follow a single round-robin format in each bracket with the top two squads advancing to the crossover semifinals. The winners will then clash for the championship. – Marigold P. Lebumfacil (THE FREEMAN)
