Cebu Blue Marlins eye grandslam feat in G-League swim
CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Blue Marlins shoot for a grandslam feat when the third leg of the G-League Age-Group Short Course Swim Meet gets underway today at the Silliman University’s Shaw Memorial Swimming Pool in Dumaguete City.
Making sure that no stone will be left unturned in their three-peat quest, CBM coach Rolando Alvarez brought with him a total of 35 swimmers.
Expected to lead CBM's charge are the ever reliable Paula Abigail Vega, Danielle Ballesteros as well as the Cañeda and Navarro siblings.
Justin Daniel Junio, who is nicknamed "Wonderboy” after crossing the Hilotongan channel a few years back, is also in the CBM lineup. This will be his debut in the said meet.
Alvarez gave Junio a chance to compete after he showed some more progress since topping his age-bracket in a local novice competition here last summer.
CBM swept the titles in the first two legs held at the Carlos P.Garcia Sports Complex in Tagbilaran City last month.
Among those who will challenge CBM's bid for supremacy are the Bohol Dolphins, Negros Blue Dolphins and host Silliman's Red Snappers Swimming Club. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (FREEMAN NEWS)
