UC bets dominate CESAFI table tennis tournament

CEBU, Philippines - The University of Cebu (UC) clinched three of the four championship titles available in the 2009 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) table tennis event at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym.

UC failed to score a clean sweep as its men's team only placed third behind University of San Jose-Recoletos and USC.

In the women's side, UC, led by latest RP Team recruit Jennifer Jacalan, spanked USJ-R for the top spot.

Jacalan carried most of the load for UC, winning her singles match against her former teammate Sherilyn Gantuangko.

UC also lorded it over in the doubles category via a 2-0 shutdown of USJ-R.

In the secondary level, UC topped both the boys and girls divisions.

The UC boys squad spearheaded by Dannel Jay Tormis overpowered the Jean Phillippe Honoridez-skippered Don Bosco Technology Center, while USJ-R wound up third.

In the girls bracket, UC outsmarted USC, while Cebu Eastern College (CEC) settled for third place honors. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
