Osmeña 10K Run unfolds this am

CEBU, Philippines - Hundreds of running buffs will once again troop to the streets today for the rare 09-09-09 edition of the annual Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr. (DSOS) 10K Run starting at the Cebu City Hall and ending at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Among the top runners to watch out for are Mendel Lopez and Cebu’s Queen of the Road Leizsl Lumindas-Gitaruelas.

In the distaff side, Gitaruelas should brace herself for a tough challenge against Mary Grace de los Santos of Zamboanga, who has swiftly established her name as a running titan in the Queen City of the South.

The United Kingdom-bound running eye doctor Yong Larrazabal and his wife, former singer-actress Donna Cruz, are also expected to show up and warm themselves up before leaving for the Robinhood Marathon on September 13.

The categories to be contested are the men and women’s open, and masters A, B, C and D.

Cash prizes, trophies and medals await the top finishers of the event, which is part of the City government’s celebration of the 131st birthday of the late Don Sergio Osmeña, Sr., the highly-esteemed Grand Old Man of Cebu. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   (FREEMAN NEWS)
