Cesafi Secondary Football: Unbeaten Don Bosco retains title

- Caecent No-ot Magsumbol -

CEBU, Philippines - For the fourth straight year, the Don Bosco Technology Center (DBTC) booters stayed undefeated, capping their campaign with a 4-2 whacking of Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) to retain their title in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) secondary football tournament.

The Bosconians were all business from the start and cruised to a commanding 3-1 lead at halftime.

Rico de Guzman broke the ice of the match with just eight minutes gone by in the game. Three minutes later, Miguel Caindic punched in a goal to give Don Bosco a 2-0 upstart.

Don Fernan sank SHS-J’s first goal at the 38th, but Peter Ricamora found the back of the net with a minute before the intermission to hand the Bosconians a 3-1 edge.

In the final half, Don Bosco tried to add up more goals but could only get one going through the post courtesy of Charles Caballes.

SHS-J’s second goal was delivered by Gabriel de Leon at the 75th.

Earlier, the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) blasted the hapless University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), 5-0, to settle for third place honors.

The outcome was already evident when USPF posted an imposing 3-0 advantage in the first half behind goals from Joed Bulutano at the 7th, Jacob Omega at the 14th and Jenard Dondoyano at the 30th.

Joel Syre and Omega added one goal each at the 55th and 71st, respectively, to seal USPF’s impressive shutdown of USJ-R.
