CEBU, Philippines - The semifinal cast in the secondary division of the 2009 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) football tournament is now complete, with the defending champion Don Bosco Technology Center coming up with a clean sweep in the elimination round.
DBTC claimed the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) as its latest victim via a 12-0 massacre at its own turf.
It was a double whammy for USJ-R as it later dropped a 2-5 decision to University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF).
Don Bosco proceeded into the next round with an immaculate 4-0 record, while USPF is at second with a 2-1-1 win-loss-draw card. USPF fought to a draw with Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J) in its final match in the qualifying phase.
SHS-J took the no.3 spot, while the listless USJR landed at fourth.
The semifinals will take place on Saturday at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Technological Center field in Talamban, while action in the tertiary level will commence on Sunday at the same venue. –Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
