D'bantayan hosts motosuit

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu’s top riders will again display their skills as the 2009 MS Motosuit Motocross Series -Mayor Shun J. Shimura Cup fires off today in Daanbantayan.

More than 60 will compete in this 12th leg organized by Malou Pepito of BJ Pepito Racing Team and supported by Mayor Shimura, Vice-Mayor Maria Luisa Loot, Mariquita Salimbangon and the municipal council of Daanbantayan.

The race will be a showdown for points as riders are eyeing the overall championship in their respective divisions.

Riders from the beginner class to executive division earn points after each leg. The rider, at yearend, with the highest points wins overall championship of his class and gets the chance to vie for the Rider of the Year award.

Seigfried Ornopia, the reigning ROY, unofficially, is on top of the leaderboard after 11 legs. Expert rider Jon-Jon Adlawan is a close second.

Other riders in contention include Donkey Sanchez, Wensor Famorca, Paulo Inoc, Gener Sicad, Ryan Quirol, John Flores and Jun Enriquez.

This is the second time Daanbantayan is hosting a motosuit competition. Earlier, Barangay Agujo hosted the 2nd leg of this year’s series won by Jon-Jon Adlawan with Rex Barbaso and Weng Yapparcon finishing second and third, respectively.—Caecent No-ot Magsumbol   . (THE FREEMAN)
