DTCC seeks more records

-

CEBU, Philippines - After establishing the Guinness World Record for the largest dance class June 27 at the Cebu City Sports Center, Dancesport-Team Cebu City (DTCC) is seeking more world dancing records.

This time, DTCC brass is looking into establishing world records for the most number of participants in cha-cha, jive and mambo.

A source told The FREEMAN that DTCC has already sent a letter of inquiry to Guinness office in London to find out if the June 27 feat could be used in establishing the records in cha-cha, jive and mambo.

In that June 27 feat, more than 7,770 danced to the beat of cha-cha, jive and mambo. Crisaldo “Loloi” Rendon, the head coach of DTCC, choreographed and led the record-breaking feat.

While others are satisfied with the world record that DTCC established, some dance enthusiasts were clamoring for more records because Guinness accepts multiple record applications.

April Tudtud-Ramos, the publicist of DTCC, said that if Guinness will reply positively to the inquiry, then they would work on the bid after dancesport competitions set next moth.

Tudtud said they are now busy preparing for the 4th Dancesport sa Subgu and the 3rd Cebu IDSF Open Dancesport Championships 2009.

To commemorate the June 27 feat, DTCC had put up a memorabilia corner at the dance studio of the Cebu City Sports Center.

Cebu Representative Raul del Mar and Cebu’s first lady Margot Osmeña and some city councilor led the unveiling of the memorabilia the other day, in a simple ceremony.

Those who helped in the record-breaking feat on June 27 received plaques and a video of the event. —Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
