Kim-Yap tops AVGCC Monthly Medal

CEBU, Philippines - The tandem of Kim Kwang Seok and Wendell Yap bagged the top honors for the premiere category in the August Monthly Medal of Alta Vista Golf and Country Club over the weekend.

Kim and Yap scored 46 and 51 points respectively in the Molave points system for a team total of 97. 

Second place for Group 1 went to the duo of Richard Lim and Alex Yeo with 94 points on rounds of 40 and 54 respectively and after edging the pair of Emir Abutazil and Marlo Cugtas.

Abutazil and Cugtas with identical rounds of 47 points also finished with 94 and settled for the second runner-up honors.

The scoring format awards seven points for a double eagle, six for an ace, five for eagle, four for birdie, three for par, two for bogey and one for double-bogey.

In Group 2, Henry Chu and Ed Acain combined for 88 points on rounds of 43 and 45 to win the title.

Second place for Group 2 went to Rene Piano and Jufil Sato with 84 points (34-50) while third place went to Toby Florendo and Anthony Bejar (35-46) with 81 points.

Dan Ledesma and Boy Cunanan combined for 86 points on rounds of 40 and 46 respectively to top Group 3.

First runner-up for the group went to Ed Manzano and Jojo Cañada with 85 (43-42) while second runner-up was the duo of Butch Aleta and Oscar Sanchez with 74 (36-38).

The seniors’ division title went to the team of Rod Señido and Boy Gonzalez with 66 shooting rounds of 34 and 32 respectively. 

Runner-up honors went to buddies Pete See and Philip Huang with 47 on rounds of 26 and 21.

Nestor Cabrera ruled the guest division using the Callaway division as he scored a net 69 off a gross 90. Runner-up honors went to Noh Tae Gwan with a net score of 71 off a gross 87.

Cañada also received a special prize for nearest the pin on hole number 6 leaving four feet for a birdie try while Gonzalez had the most accurate drive on hole number 11 missing the center line by three inches. - THE FREEMAN
