Danao to stage various sports events for rest of year
CEBU, Philippines - The rest of the year is going to be a very busy schedule for Danao City sports with several events being lined up starting off with the 3-15-3 Triathlon at Sands Beach Resort on August 16.
Originally known as the Pipti-Pipti Triathlon, the 3-15-3 action features a 300-meter swim, 15-kilometer bike and a 3-kilometer run.
The organizing Sugbu Triathlon decided to change its name as they gear up to a higher level of organization and competition.
The race will be divided into different categories: the male juniors for 18 years old and below, senior 20 (19-29), senior 30 (30-39), masters (40 and above), female open, and mountainbike.
As an added attraction, the tandem category will be introduced. It is a team event composed of two athletes of any gender.
The upcoming tilt also serves as the final tune-up for the local triathletes who will be joining the Ironman Philippines on August 23 in Camarines Sur.
Registration fee is pegged at P150 inclusive of a bib number, snacks and other freebies.
Two more 3-15-3 contests are being scheduled in Danao on October 18 and December 20.
Aside from triathlon, there will also be the Congressman Red Durano Cup mountainbike competition on September 13, Save Our River Run on September 27, Bike4U.org Charity Ride on October 4, and the Mano Amon Run on December 20. – Caecent No-ot Magsumbol (THE FREEMAN)
